Chelsea 1-2 Real Madrid, Preseason Friendly: Post-match reaction

Chelsea aimed to change the narrative of their preseason with a promising start, nearly getting on the scoresheet within the first few minutes. However, their all-too-familiar defensive frailties quickly resurfaced, allowing Real Madrid to capitalize on multiple mistakes. Individual errors, poor execution, careless turnovers, and glaring gaps in defense gave Real Madrid ample opportunities, and they made the most of them, scoring twice within the first half hour. Real could have added more goals but chose to settle for just two.
Chelsea did manage to pose some threats, but their finishing in the final third was as problematic as their defense. Once Real Madrid eased off the pressure after the initial onslaught, Chelsea managed to pull one back. Noni Madueke scored a header at the far post from a well-placed ball by Enzo Fernandez, offering a glimmer of hope.

The second half began with high energy, and both teams missed several excellent chances. As substitutions flowed in, the game devolved into a less structured affair with players simply running around.
Carefree.
